For most Hatters travelling east on the Trans-Canada Highway or for those simply passing through our city in that direction, the small hamlet of Dunmore, despite having a posted “speed” limit sign, is often just but a “blink” of an eye. Yet despite its somewhat innocuous appearance from the highway, it has a very unique and special history for which many are unaware and its “close” connection to Medicine Hat is worthy of a closer examination.   1. Hi, Bill! Another piece that is not only very interesting but also quite timely, since it shows that the “Orange Menace” is not the only person who wanted to get his hands on Canada!
    Regarding the fact Lord Dunmore painted watercolours–there was a time (possibly earlier than Lord Dunmore’s time) when officers in the British army were given training in watercolour painting. This was done so that officers stationed in England’s colonies could send back to England visual descriptions of what the colonies looked like–to take Niagara Falls as an example, a picture really is worth a thousand words!
