A rare discovery in an abandoned cabin resulted in the author going down a geneolgoical and historical “rabbit hole” to borrow a phrase from the ‘Adventures of Alice in Wonderland’. It tells the interesting story about the Jenkins family from Medicine Hat
Hi, Bill! Wow! Great research–this was indeed some rabbit hole! Your comments concerning verifying information reminded me of the time I was asked to appear on a local TV program with a work of art that would be of interest to viewers. Prior to the start of the show I mentioned to the nice young lady who was to interview me that the picture I had chosen was thought to have been painted by a certain artist, it was thought to have been painted in a certain year, and it was thought to have been painted in Canada and not in Europe. I then stated very clearly that, if these conditions were met, this was the earliest known Canadian painting. I was therefore somewhat surprised when the nice young lady began my interview with the statement “And here it is, the very first picture painted in Canada!” Oh well, anything for a good story, I guess!
