  1. Hi, Bill! Many, many thanks for another very interesting article. I was pleased to note that Mr. McIntosh survived his time flying a bomber over Germany–so many pilots didn’t. However, one minor quibble–the picture on page 10 is said to be the corner of Second Street and Fourth Avenue. However, if I remember correctly from almost seventy years ago when I would trot down from my home on Second Street to take my place in a teller’s cage in the Bank of Montreal, I think the corner in question would be where Sixth Avenue crossed Second Street. Of course, my ol’ memory muscles ain’t what they used to be, so I could be wrong!
The article also reminded me of the story told to me by one of my painting instructors at the U of A who was in the air force during the war. When he was waiting for his discharge papers he said he had a mini business going painting airplane pictures for other air crew members who were waiting to be discharged. He would ask a pilot what squadron he had been in, and then produce a picture of the correct plane with the correct markings! I suppose the odds are against his having painted a picture of bomber named “Medicine Hat”!
